50 summer tyres were tested.
49 new tyres and 1 retread.
A King-Meiler, of course.
In the 205/55 R16 V dimension, our "Sport1" achieved better results than a large number of the other test candidates - not just all new tyres, including the best-known premium brands.
- Together with the "Michelin e Primacy", we took first place for fuel consumption.
- In a comparison of abrasion, we are ahead of 22 of the new tyres - e.g. from Uniroyal, Pirelli, Dunlop and Nokian.
- On wet tarmac, the braking distance of our "Sport1" is shorter than that of 14 competitors - including Michelin "e Primacy".
- The predicted mileage of our retreaded tyre is better than that of 20 test candidates - for example Uniroyal and Nokian.
- In decibel measurements when driving by, our king-miler is more silent than 21 competitors - including models from Hankook, BF Goodrich, Continental, Dunlop, Falken, Firestone, Bridgestone, Fulda and others.
- The result for aquaplaning (longitudinal) is better than those of 18 new tyres - such as the ones from Hankook, Toyo, Falken and one each from Michelin and Continental.
Conclusion: King-Meiler succeeds alongside new tyres - even premium brands. In terms of safety, they are right in the middle of the pack and are outstanding in terms of environmental compatibility.
The environmental balance has been added as a new test criterion. The reason why we are actually better than the ADAC's overall score can describe is as follows. Although the King-Meiler - together with the Michelin e Primacy - is better than all the others in terms of fuel consumption, certificates are also included in the assessment. We have a few of these, and very meaningful ones indeed. Only those according to ISO 14040/14044 are denied to us, as we do not receive all the necessary details from the new tyre industry about their procurement of raw materials etcetera. The result is that retreaded tyres, which demonstrably produce much less waste, reintroduce the used products of the new tyre industry into the recycling cycle, while some new tyres with the aforementioned certificates end up ahead of us - this can be explained mathematically, but is hardly comprehensible in fact.
Genuine sustainability grows from a combination of production, energy consumption and recovery, used materials, waste avoidance and the further processing of secondary products. We are clearly ahead in this field.
As pleased as we are with the individual results, we are not resting on our laurels. Since the ADAC test runs for this summer tyre test, we are already using advanced compounds in our production. We have been researching, testing, improving and renewing many things. Our own team of test drivers, specialised engineers and, of course, the entire King-Meiler team are feverishly pursuing the goal of producing even better tyres that score points for safety and sustainability.
We have held ourselves and our King-Meiler in the field of new tyres and are optimistic about upcoming comparative tests in which we will finish even further ahead.
Our summary: A retread tyre stands its ground in the field of participants with all notable premium brands.
King-Meiler - The best for the environment, and ever closer to the premium brands.
